There is something deeply powerful about a mother.

Not just in the way she loves, nurtures, protects, and sacrifices but in the way she somehow continues to carry dreams in the middle of raising little humans.

This Mother’s Day, at MamaJay Photography Studios, I am celebrating you, the mother who wakes up tired but still shows up, the woman who pours endlessly into everyone around her while quietly holding onto pieces of herself she still hopes to rediscover someday. I see you. Because I am you too.

When I look at this photo, I do not just see a mother holding her baby. I see softness, strength, exhaustion, love, hope, sacrifice, and purpose all existing in one frame. I see the version of women the world often overlooks. Women who are building lives while raising lives at the same time.

And honestly? That is one of the bravest things anyone can do. A year ago, my life looked very different.

I had just given birth through a Cesarean section. I was learning how to function on little sleep while navigating the emotions that come with motherhood, healing, immigration, purpose, identity, and change.

Three months postpartum is usually a season where most people tell women to slow down, rest, and wait. But somewhere between holding my newborn in one hand and carrying my camera in the other, MamaJay Photography Studios was born. Not in perfect conditions. Not with all the right resources. Not because I had everything figured out.

It was born from courage.

The kind of courage motherhood teaches you.

The kind that reminds you that even while nurturing others, your dreams still matter too.

So today, this is my reminder to every mother reading this:

🍼You are allowed to love your children deeply and still desire more for yourself.

🤰You are allowed to chase purpose without feeling guilty.

🧑🏽‍🍼You are allowed to rebuild, rediscover yourself, start over, create, lead, dream, heal, and become — even in the middle of motherhood.

Motherhood does not cancel your identity. It expands it.

I have met so many incredible women through MamaJay Photography Studios here in Fredericton. Mothers who are courageously carrying entire worlds on their shoulders while still showing up for themselves. Some are rebuilding after immigration. Some are starting businesses. Some are going back to school. Some are learning to love themselves again. Some are simply trying to make it through each day.

And every single one of them deserves to be celebrated. That is why photography means so much to me. It’s more than the business of photography itself the connection we humans.

To every MamaJay client who trusted me to capture your moments, thank you for allowing me into your stories. Thank you for showing up with your bump, your babies, your chaos, your laughter, your tenderness, and your love.

You inspire me more than you know. And to the mother reading this who has placed her dreams on hold while caring for everyone else.

This is your reminder: It is not too late. Your dreams still matter. And your children are not proof that your life ended, they are the reason it truly begins.

Happy Mother’s Day to the woman who gives love endlessly.

With warmth, love, and heart
